Before you start Park the car, plug the adapter into the 16-pin OBD-II socket (usually beneath the dashboard in the driver’s footwell), and turn the ignition on. Check that the adapter has power. Close other diagnostic apps that may be using it.

WindowsConnect directly to R56 DOC
  1. Make your chosen adapter discoverable by following its pairing instructions.
  2. On Windows 11, open Start → Settings → Bluetooth & devices and switch Bluetooth on. Select Add device → Bluetooth. On Windows 10, use Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & other devices → Add Bluetooth or other device.
  3. Select your chosen adapter in the device list, confirm the pairing prompt, and wait for Windows to finish. If a PIN is requested, use the code in your adapter’s guide.
  4. Open R56 DOC in an up-to-date Google Chrome on Windows. Choose whether to save a log, then select Connect. If logging is enabled, choose a file location first.
  5. In the browser’s device picker, select the paired adapter or its outgoing Bluetooth serial/COM port, then confirm. Wait for the diagnostic page to report that the adapter is ready.

Not listed? Check power, follow your chosen adapter’s instructions to make it discoverable again, and retry Windows pairing. Close any other diagnostic app connected to the adapter. A BLE-only or Wi-Fi adapter will not work with this page’s Bluetooth serial connection.
